Playing a Troublemaker: pranks, hiding and rescues

Updated · Roles

Quick answer

You're one of up to five real students in a room full of NPCs. Fill the shared Mischief Points bar by snacking from your desk drawer, passing notes, using your phone, gaming in the Computer Lab, or hitting the teacher with a balloon — and don't get caught doing it. Act like an NPC when the teacher looks your way, crawl between desks to break line of sight, slip out the back door, and keep one teammate free to untie the others, because a tied-up student can't do anything until rescued.

The loop

  1. Sit and watch the first seconds. Learn where the teacher patrols and where the pillars are.
  2. Open the drawer when the teacher faces the board. Snacks and items spawn there and restock.
  3. Eat, text, pass notes — the bar is shared, so five students nibbling beats one hero.
  4. Break line of sight when a patrol comes: crawl (Oct 21), or go out the back door (every classroom has one that opens).
  5. Save one player for rescues. A tied-up teammate is a dead teammate until someone unties them.

Why you keep losing (and what the launch changes)

Demo players felt the teacher was too strong: chalk range, hard rescues, no break-free. Funcore tuned balance in 0.1.7 and 0.1.9 (fewer points needed in small rooms, item spawn scaling) and the November 10 build adds custom room settings — a host can lower teacher count or raise item spawn rates for a friendlier lobby.

FAQ

What's the fastest way to earn Mischief Points?

Eat. Every bite from the drawer counts, and the drawer restocks. Phones and notes are quieter but slower. In the Computer Lab, the PC game task is the map's own prank.

How do I avoid getting caught?

Move when the teacher is writing on the board, freeze when they turn, and don't hold an item in plain view. NPCs turn their heads when the teacher approaches — do the same. Crawl between desks if you need to relocate.

What happens when I'm caught?

You're hit with chalk, red-carded and tied to a pillar by the podium. You can't interact until a teammate frees you; in bigger rooms rescues take longer (Demo 0.1.6).

Can I escape on my own?

No. There's no break-free mechanic as of the demo — forum players keep asking for one. Only a teammate can untie you.

Does rescuing give points?

No. Players asked for it; it isn't in the game yet.

Is the Teacher's Lunch worth it?

It's in the office and the developer describes it as either a gift or a trap. Treat the office as high-risk — you're far from your seat.
